The history of our club.
Orange Model Aircraft Club Inc. or OMAC Inc. was first formed in 1929 and is now in its 93rd year of operation serving aero modellers in the Central Western Area of New South Wales.
The club’s membership usually numbers 35 to members, ranging in age from 12 to over 80 years of age. OMAC Inc. caters for all types of AEROMODELLING interests from pure survival (those are the beginners) to fast and exciting aerobatic aircraft, sailplanes, general sport aircraft or highly detailed replics of attractive full size aircraft. Some members are even into the most difficult of all — helicopters.
In the club you will find interesting people doing interesting things. Here you will find help and guidence if and when you need it . Here you will find people who “talk your language”. Here are friendly people with a wealth of knowledge and experience, always ready to pass it on and share the experience of model flying with you.
We have a number of Model Aircraft Association of Australia qualified instructors, who are fully insured and are ready and willing to teach you to fly Radio Controlled Models. OMAC Inc. usually conducts up to four different interest events each year and the opportunity is also there for members to visit other club events in other areas, this gives us the opportunity to see other club’s operations and of course meet and enjoy interaction with other fellow modelers.
Model Aircraft activities are recognized by the Dept of Sport & Recreation as a sport and the flying operations are governed by guide lines laid down by CASA who govern the operation of full sized aircraft.
